In general, an acronym is a type of abbreviation (letter abbreviation), which is pronounced together, and not separately by letters. The Russian language is the champion in the number of abbreviated words or acronyms. The USSR gave us love for the letter designations of long phrases: the RSFSR, the CIS, the UKK, the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions and so on.
However, the English language has something to boast about. Of course, you won’t know all the acronyms without special training, because for the most part they relate to specific industries. However, there are interesting words and expressions that we use every day and do not even suspect that they are also abbreviations - and even from such interesting constructions.
